In the last 50 or so years, the logo has not changed much, always keeping the iconic G.
Why did they redesign their Jerseys and logos?
The Packers redesigned their Jerseys so often during the last 90 years because every time they got a new head coach, he would redesign the entire uniform to "reshape" the team. Another reason is because there was no NFL in the earlier days, so the players could wear whatever they wanted as long as all the jerseys looked similar. Because of this, whatever the best player wore or whatever the majority of the team wore became the official jersey for that year.
Their logo was redesigned the first time because the original was only meant to be temporary until the NFL was formed, once the NFL merged all the teams the Packers changed to an updated, more modern logo. The second time that they switched their logo was because Vince Lombardi, the legendary head coach who brought the Packers to two Superbowl victory's, joined the team. When he joined the association, he wanted to completely revamp the logo, jerseys, and roster in order to change the face of the team. The last logo update came because the old one needed to be redone for modern computers and printers, and in doing so, they added yellow around the oval G.
